Eye on 'Nude Officials' for Anti-Graft

"Nude official" is a new buzzword, referring to a government official whose spouse and offspring permanently live abroad. In 2008, a government officer of Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, Yang Xianghong, refused to return after an official visit to Paris, where his daughter was married to an overseas Chinese. It was later discovered that Yang had been implicated in a local property developer's bribery case. Yang’s case is by no means the exception, and the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, the disciplinary agency of the Communist Party, has included improved management of officials whose family move abroad into the Commission Communique. The Ministry of Supervision and National Bureau of Corruption Prevention become concerned with the issue.
