Acid Gushes into Fujian's Ting River

Toxic wastewater flowed into the Ting River from a copper smelting plant owned by Zijin Mining Group Co. on July 3. Nine days after the accident occurred, the Zijin Mining Group disclosed the incident. According to preliminary investigation results released by the Shanghang county government, the Zijin Mining Group illegally diverted its wastewater to the Ting River. Nearly two million kilograms of fish in the Mianhuatan Reservoir were killed off or poisoned.
