Last Signal Station on the Yangtze River

The Laoguanmiao station is the last light station, a small octagonal pavilion that from a distance looks like a basket dangling off a cliff. To the west of the station, the river narrows on its way from Fengjie County to continue on to Qutang Gorge. It is the only signal station with full guidance functions still in use in the Three Gorges reservoir area, covering a 10 kilometer segment of the Yangtze River. Boats navigating the river's elbow-like bends to Kuimen Gate still require instructions from the signal station's light.
