Stash of Trash at the Three Gorges Dam

Crammed just behind the mouth of the world's largest hydroelectric power dam, 2,500 tons of garbage and debris in the Three Gorges Dam await pickup by the loading arm of a single dump scow. Located in Hubei Province on the Yangtze River, the dam was completed in 2006 at the cost of 254 billion yuan, according to state media. This year's torrential rains and floods across China have put serious pressure on the dam's flood control capacities.
