Powerful Factory Explosion in Nanjing Kills 12

A plastics factory in Eastern China’s Jiangsu Province was hit with an explosion; preliminary investigations have traced the source of the blast to a gas leak

Twelve were killed by an explosion at a plastics factory in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province at around 10 am on July 28, and over 300 people were injured, according to Xinhua News Agency. At least 100 people were seriously injured.

An initial investigation showed that a propylene leak at a construction site triggered the blast. Firefighters are still working to extinguish the blaze in the factory building.

Buildings and vehicles within a 100-meter radius around the factory were seriously damaged. The explosion also injured several passengers on a bus traveling in the vicinity.
