What tools do Chinese policymakers have on hand to counter the influence of U.S. cultural exports?
The United States and China are the 21st century's leading geopolitical powers. No other nation state comes close. The U.S. is still far ahead as a naval power, despite China's launch in 2011 of its first aircraft carrier. More generally, the U.S. military retains its lead in advanced military technology, from remote-controlled drone aircraft to cyber warfare.
