Former Shanghai Urban Planning Official on Trial for Graft
Former deputy director of Shanghai's Municipal Planning Land and Resources Administration Hu Jun made his first appearance in court on June 18 on charges of accepting a total of 7 million yuan in kickbacks from developers.
Prosecutors said Hu collected bribes from 2002 to 2011 while serving at the
Urban Planning Bureau of Jing'an District and the Shanghai Municipal Planning
Land and Resources Administration.
The 46-year-old Hu holds a
doctorate in Urban and Regional Planning from Nanjing University. In 1997, Hu
became the deputy director of the Jing'an District Urban Planning Bureau in
Shanghai. In 2003, he served as the deputy county mayor of Shanghai's Chongming
County. Five years later, he was appointed deputy director of the Shanghai
Municipal Planning Land and Resources Administration.
