Hefei Tree-Planting Withers Away

The ambitious plan to create a grandiose garden of towering trees in Hefei, Anhui has gone awry. The trees are suffering from an unknown disease that has caused them to shed their dried out bark, transforming an awe-inspiring park into a wasteland. A species of crape myrtle, the trees were imported from Vietnam at a cost of 400,000 yuan per tree.
