As I was watching the CCTV live coverage of Danny Boyle's delightfully eccentric opening ceremony of the Olympic Games on Saturday morning, the commentator, Bai Yansong, a veteran newsman, was lost on points involving heavy cultural references. I couldn't help but wonder, how much of that unabashed Britishness might be lost during translation for the Chinese audience?
