Li Keqiang Fan Opens Weibo Account
A Weibo account that supports Li Keqiang, the Politburo Standing Committee No. 2 who is expected to be the next premier, debuted on February 7. One backing new Communist Party General Secretary Xi Jinping opened on November 21. Li's is aptly titled "Learn From Li." The account's manager refused to reveal her identity, but said she was an admirer of Li's. She said she will publish around six pieces about him every day and blog live during the National People's Congress next month. Posts referred to Li as "Brother Qiang" or the friendly "Qiangqiang," and contain information about not only Li but also his family members, including wife Cheng Hong. The account supporting Xi, opened by someone who said he was a migrant worker, is titled "Study Xi Fan Club" and quickly built up a big following with posts that included insider photos.
