aHong Kong claims, with considerable justification, to be a finance hub, a logistics hub, a business hub, a media hub and even – somewhat less plausibly – a wine hub: perhaps if a claim is emphasized enough times and regulations tweaked a bit, then it might come to pass. And perhaps it has. Buoyed by these successes, the idea that Hong Kong might develop as a hub for Islamic banking has been floated for several years.
