China and U.S. both depend on strong family values, U.S. first lady tells Caixin as she arrives in Beijing
By Washington correspondent Tang Jiajie

(Washington) – U.S. first lady Michelle Obama has arrived in Beijing for a week-long trip along with her daughters and mother. During the trip she will promote educational and cultural exchanges between the two major countries.

Obama was invited to visit China by its first lady, Peng Liyuan. This is the third international trip Obama is taking as first lady without her husband, President Barack Obama. In 2010, she visited Mexico, and a year later went to Botswana and South Africa. Besides Beijing, Obama is also scheduled to visit Xi'an and Chengdu.
